Power and Electrification
The Imo State Ministry of Power and Electrification is responsible for driving sustainable and accessible electricity across the state. Under the leadership of Governor Hope Uzodimma, the ministry has taken significant steps toward improving the state’s energy infrastructure. One of its major initiatives includes a statewide power audit aimed at assessing electricity demands in over 700 autonomous communities, urban centers, and the capital city. This data-driven approach guides planning for equitable electrification.
About The Commissioner
Hon. Engr. Nwabueze Oguchienti is the current Commissioner for Power and Electrification in Imo State, appointed by his Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma. A seasoned engineer and energy sector expert, he brings over 20 years of professional experience in electrical infrastructure, rural electrification, and project development.

Through strategic investments, private partnerships, and regulatory reforms, we are reshaping the power sector in Imo State to deliver long-term impact.
